where the rhythm of ocean, the wisdom of land, and the

fire of ancestral ritual shape a deeply embodied journey.


Surfing, group therapy, breath work, meditation, somatic practice, and creative expression are woven together; inviting transformation that is felt, not just understood.
 

Held within an intimate circle of no more than eight women, the space is deliberately small and unhurried. Safety, presence, and trust are not added extras here; they are the foundation.
 

Through shared experiences and optional one-to-one support, you are gently guided to uncover hidden patterns, meet fear with honesty, and step forward with grounded courage. The clarity and confidence that emerge are not momentary breakthroughs, but embodied shifts.

There’s nothing wrong with you, it’s a sign your nervous system has been under stress too long.  Beyond the Break is a seven-day immersive retreat along the wild Moroccan coast, designed to bring body and mind back into dialogue.

Held within an intimate circle of no more than eight women, this workshop is an intentionally created space where learning becomes possible again.
 

By integrating psycho-therapeutic tools with embodied practices — surfing, breath work, meditation, creative expression, and time in nature — transformation becomes something you feel, not just understand.
 

The focus is not on fixing or optimizing yourself. It is on understanding your inner patterns, regulating your nervous system, and reconnecting with what feels true and alive

for you.

Julia Dobmeier

Psychotherapist & Coach
Germany

Julia is a licensed psychotherapist with extensive experience across clinical settings, coaching, and mental health workshops and seminars for individuals and teams.
 

Her approach is intuitive, precise, and individual, going deep without dwelling on the past. She quickly identifies the core of an issue and works creatively beyond rigid methods, supporting clarity, self-compassion, and forward momentum. Her work is focused on meaningful change in the present moment.
 

A passionate surfer, Julia integrates the ocean and embodied experience into her work. Her greatest fulfillment comes from seeing people reconnect with themselves, laugh again, trust their own path, and feel proud of the life they are creating.

Leïna Abbou

Certified Breath Work Practitioner 
France / Morocco

Leïna trained with the Polyvagal Institute and is part of the International Breathwork Foundation research team, specialising in nervous system regulation techniques. Her work is grounded in contemporary research and guided by deep respect for the body’s natural capacity to regulate and restore.

Her approach is professional and intensive, guiding participants into deep parasympathetic states where the nervous system can fully soften and release. Her work invites the body into levels of relaxation and embodied awareness that many have not experienced before.
 

Leïna’s work is informed by strong values around sustainability, community, and collective well being. She brings warmth, presence, and care to every session.

Fully Qualified Surf Instructor
Morocco

Youness is a professional surfer and fully qualified instructor with years of experience supporting groups of all levels. He began surfing at the age of 10 and grew up in the small coastal village of Tamawanza, just steps from the ocean. 

For Youness, surfing is more than a sport — it’s a way of life. During week-long retreats, he creates a calm, supportive space where women can move through the water with confidence, curiosity, and ease, guided by both skill and care.

Journey Inward

Throughout the week, you will gain a deeper understanding of your own stress patterns and learn practical tools that you can carry into everyday life. You may notice a greater distance from constant overthinking and a stronger connection to your body and inner signals. Many women leave with increased clarity around personal beliefs and limitations, alongside an embodied sense of stability and self-trust. What each participant takes from the week is personal, yet the experience often continues to unfold long after the workshop ends.

The retreat takes place in a peaceful guesthouse above the coastal town of Aourir, Morocco, with expansive views of the ocean, the town below, and the Atlas mountains catching the last light of day. Beyond the house, we move into untouched spaces away from typical tourist routes, including deserts, natural springs, and other unique landscapes. These places are not a backdrop but an integral part of the experience, supporting presence, grounding, and inner expansion.

Beyond the Break is hosted at Aourir Waves by Mustapha and Celina, who open their doors not simply as accommodation, but as a space shaped by care and lived experience.
 

Their approach to hosting is rooted in attentiveness; to people, to atmosphere, and to what it means to truly arrive somewhere unfamiliar and feel at ease. Every detail, from how meals are shared to how spaces are held, reflects a deep respect for rest, connection, and the quieter rhythms of life along the Moroccan coast.
 

Both have walked their own paths of transformation, and understand what it means to create environments where people feel safe enough to soften, open, and be themselves. This understanding shapes the way the house is experienced throughout the week. 
 

Alongside the therapeutic framework of the retreat, their hospitality offers a human counterpoint; warmth, humour, creativity, and an appreciation for culture, food, and shared moments. It’s this balance that creates the ideal container for the experience.

All meals are cooked in-house using fresh, local ingredients, guided by traditional Moroccan recipes and an understanding of nutrition that has been passed down through generations.

The menu is thoughtfully designed to be anti-inflammatory, restorative, and nourishing, while remaining flavourful and satisfying. Dietary preferences and needs are carefully accommodated, allowing everyone to feel supported and happy.
